Secret Wars Is Here!

The latest expansion for the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game hits stores today! Secret Wars is based upon the 1984 limited series that spawned Marvel’s company-wide crossovers, and upon the 2015 limited series that’s the basis of the storyline for the next two Avengers movies. It’s packed with new rules, new ways to run a campaign, and a chapter that explains in detail how the Marvel Multiverse — and its many universes and cosmoses — actually work. That’s essentially a love letter to the stories that Marvel’s amazing writers — especially Jonathan Hickman and Al Ewing — have created that build out the latest version of the Multiverse.

You should be able to find it at your friendly local game store today and your friendly local comic book store tomorrow. Go get it!

I’m pretty proud of the book, and — as always — it took a team effort to bring it to print. I owe all the people involved a great deal of thanks. That includes:

  • My son Marty, who wrote all the profiles, plus the chapters on the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, and the Negative Zone.
  • My pal Alex Irvine, who wrote the chapters on the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Galactic Powers.
  • Our producers, CJ Cervantes and Amir Osman, who always pushed us to do better at every step.
  • Our editor, Brian Overton, who somehow managed to keep everything on track.
  • Our graphic designer, Simeon Cogswell, who made everything look fantastic.
  • Our cartographer, Brian Patterson, who brought so many locations — including Battleworld — to life.
  • Our interior artists, Ruairí Coleman, Adriano Di Benedetto, and Andrew Cramer, who illustrated the chapter headers.
  • Our cover artists, Sean Izaakse and Jesus Aburtov (who created the regular cover) and Francesco Manna and Jesus Aburtov (who created the alternate cover).
  • Plus everyone else at Marvel who helped out, all the way up to Tim Dillon, Jeff Youngquist, Sven Larson, and C.B. Cebulski.

This is the sixth hardcover book to come out for this game in just three years, and I’ve had a ball working on each and every one of them. The game gets better with each new addition, and a lot of that comes down to the demands of the players who have embraced it and run with it and keep asking for more.

Thanks to all of you for that dedication and for your sense of fun. I hope you have as much fun playing with this book as we had putting it together!
