When you’re trying to sell somebody on an idea for a story or a game, it’s a good idea to see if you can boil it down to something short and snappy, the kind of two- or three-sentence package that tells what the thing’s about and why it’s so cool that the listener must want to know more. This is …
New Amortals Review
Over at Fantasy Literature, reviewer Greg Hersom has read an early copy of Amortals, and he calls it “One helluva sci-fi thriller.” My favorite quote from the piece: Nonetheless, in the span of few chapters, I went from only slightly interested, to thinking, “Hey, this isn’t half bad,” to being genuinely sucked in. Matt Forbeck does an excellent job creating …
Amortals ARCs Are Go
This morning, I spotted a photo that the overlords at Angry Robot posted late last week. It shows the ARCs (Advance Reader Copies) for Pretty Little Dead Things, Soul Stealers, Damage Time, and my upcoming Amortals. ARCs are odd little things, usually print-on-demand copies of books made to get the word out about a book before the actual print run …
Angry Robot Unleashed!
Today, Angry Robot finally made its long-awaited debut in North America with honest-to-dead-tree books available from the Great White North to the Rio Grande. The first six titles now available in these parts are: Kell’s Legend by Andy Remic Moxyland by Lauren Beukes Sixty-One Nails by Mike Shevdon Slights by Kaaron Warren Triumff: Her Majesty’s Hero by Dan Abnett Winter …
New Amortals Review
Gill Polack recently read my upcoming novel Amortals. In her review, she writes: I keep wanting to use that old slogan “Tight, taut and terrific” about Amortals, which is accurate, but oh, so wrong. There’s not a wasted word. There’s not an idea that doesn’t make sense. I meant to start it tonight and finish other work, then finish it …
Angry Robot on the Air!
I have the coolest publishers. The Angry Robot podcast launched today, hosted by the excellent and talented Mur Lafferty. Listen in and hear Mur interview the Angry Robots themselves: Marc Gascoigne and Lee Harris. Also be sure to check out the official Angry Robot theme song by John Anealio, which heads off the episode.
Release Dates Released
Angry Robot just released its upcoming publishing schedule all the way up to the middle of 2011. This includes my first two original novels, Amortals and Vegas Knights. According to this, Amortals will hit the UK in November 2010, and North America in January of 2011. Vegas Knights storms the UK in March 2011 and North America in April 2011. To …
Plans Change at Storytellers Unplugged
Over at Storytellers Unplugged, I just posted a note called “Plans Change.” It’s about what the change in Angry Robot’s publishing schedule means for me. Go check it out.
Amortals and Vegas Knights Dates
The downside of Angry Robot moving from HarperCollins to Osprey is that they won’t be releasing any books for a few months during the transition. This includes both Amortals and Vegas Knights, which were slated for shelves in the UK this spring and the US this summer. The new schedule for the UK looks like this: Amortals: November 2010 Vegas …
Angry Robot Finds New Home
While I was out last week, my pals at Angry Robot announced that they’d left the HarperCollins family and joined the growing Osprey flock instead. While this has caused some understandable turbulence in their release schedule, I think this is a fine thing. I was happy to be a HarperCollins author, but with the troubles wracking the publishing industry on …
