I should have been clearer.  I don&#039;t think he&#039;s farcical at all.  But for someone unfamiliar with the character history he does look like a Dudley Do Right.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[I wouldn&#039;t think of Cap as farcical as much as deliberately patriotic. The fact that two Jewish men created him had a lot to do with his first foe as well. He actually appeared in print nearly a year before the US became involved in WWII. 

The films have been fantastic, and I&#039;m eager to see Civil War too. I hope you enjoy the book when it comes out. I had a fantastic time working on it.]]></description>

I was on the rpg.net discussion board years ago, and someone who didn&#039;t grow up overseas mentioned offhand that Captain America was an intentionally farcical character.  That hadn&#039;t even occurred to me until he said it, and then I did my homework and saw the character was created during World War 2 and his first arch enemy was Hitler.  That puts the character into perspective.

I am generally pleased with what they&#039;ve done with the character in the recent string of movies, and I have to admit that motivates my interest in the book.]]></description>
