I met Erick a few times decades ago and knew more of him through others. Nice guy. Never heard a bad word about him and his death is unpleasant news.

I hope that he enjoyed his life.

While I never had the chance to meet Erick Wujcik, he forever influenced the way I play roleplaying games. He showed me they could be tongue in cheek when he adapted the Palladium rules to TMNT. This also showed me that the Palladium rules could actually be used to simulate something.

The Amber RPG was a godsend to me as a DM. I didn't much care for "diceless" roleplaying, it is often too arbitrary and GMs can play favorites (adds more politics to the game table than it is worth imho), but his advice for how to be a good game master and tell a story was invaluable to me. The Amber book is up there with STRIKE FORCE and ROBIN'S LAWS when it comes to DM advice, though so is the new DMG.

He's one of the games early writers I always wanted to meet and thank.
