I just picked up Lee Goldberg's most recent Mr. Monk novel, and enjoyed Mariotte's "Marauders" trilogy. I would like to commend you, and all those who are part of the IAMTW, for creating an association for Media Tie-In writers.

I know you guys are often considered the "bastard stepchildren" of speculative fiction, or mystery fiction depending on what genre is being written in, but some of the most entertaining books I have read recently have been media tie-ins.

I was talking with my gaming group, after our weekly rpg session, and our youngest gamer talked about how it was the Drizzt books that got him interested in D&D. As the discussion progressed, I was able to see how for half of our group Drizzt had always been a part of the D&D mythos, but a couple of us remembered 1989 when we first read The Crystal Shard and were introduced to this particular dark elf.

I felt pretty old for a second when I realized that Drizzt was almost voting age.
