The only time I can think of a variation taking off so well was &lt;em&gt;Mage Knight&lt;/em&gt;, which took miniatures, prepainted them, and made them collectible. I think the &lt;em&gt;Dreamblade&lt;/em&gt; team hopes to jumpstart a new category by mixing in board games too. The question is will enough people see a difference for it to be considered a new category, as it&#039;s not clearly so.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[This reminds me...in the GenCon literature they were promoting Dreamblade as the next big thing...like D&#038;D in the 80&#039;s and Magic in the 90&#039;s.  That&#039;s a bold claim.  If Dreamblade was the first CMG, I think that claim could be warranted...but it&#039;s a new entrant into an established market (fighting for space with Star Wars/D&#038;D Minis, HeroClix, et. al.).

The next big thing may be out there...but the odds are against it being a variation on an existing theme.  There is an incredible power that comes with being the &quot;first&quot; of anything.]]></description>
