so these alpha's trapped in the chicagoverse, they were a mix of good guys and bad guys yeah? so what are the chances of the normal people surviving? The whole city would be a warzone for 23 years, like kosovo or israel, with the bad alpha's trying fighting the good ones and each other for dominance of the place.its a great concept, splitting chicago into seperat sectors/realms/kingdoms/whatever, but with the constant battles going on, i doubt many norms would survive. they'd all be turned into deltas and alphas.

Hi Steve:

Now we're getting well past the parts I'd planned out and into the land of "making it up as I go along." Two possibilities spring to mind.

First, the Omegas probably would feed the residents of Chicago. To do otherwise might mean long, slow deaths. If they wanted to kill everyone, they could have just set off a real bomb in the center of the city rather than zap them all off-planet.

Second, given the amazing powers of those trapped in the city, I'd guess that someone could come up with a way to feed the populace, perhaps by turning the parklands and any other open area into hydroponic fields choked with plants.

So, why didn't the Omegas just destroy Chicago? Two possibilities again.

First, the Omegas may not be the sort of folks to stomach such a mass execution of so many innocents. I like to think that as civilization progresses, it would leave such options behind.

Second, the best way to make an Omega is through a near-death experience of an alpha. When you have scores of alphas running around, it's probably wise to not try to kill them and risk one of them becoming powerful enough to challenge the Omegas.

Interesting, but one thing struck me. What did they eat?

Did the omegas provide Chicago with a lot of surrounding farmland or food production facilities. Where there Omega wardens who fed the people?

Thx.

Thank goodness for Google! I happened across your web site while I was trying to find out more about "Brave New World". (I'm a Deadlands/Hell on Earth veteran, and your system has a lot in it that I liked in Deadlands.)

It's frustrating to be such a latecomer, and to find out that everything is out of print. Nonetheless, it was a real blessing to find your posts about the "secrets" behind the game. I love the concepts, and they really help to put the whole thing in perspective.

I know my thanks are a bit late - but thanks for coming up with such a neat game!
