Vegas Knights

A savvy reader known as Bane of Kings reviewed Vegas Knights at The Founding Fields today, and he loved it. He gives it a stellar 9 out of 10 and writes:

You’ll find that you can get through this book pretty quickly, mainly because you simply won’t be able to put it down… The plot of this novel is well constructed, and written in a way that you don’t know what’s coming next… Should you buy this book? Yes. It’s a fantastic read, and a must for any fans of the fantasy genre.

Vegas Knights hits the UK on March 3 and releases worldwide as an ebook that same day. Print copies reach the US on March 29. If you have a UK Kindle, though, the book apparently slipped through there a bit early, and you can grab it right now.

Vegas Knights

The latest SFX Magazine features a review of Vegas Knights. It’s only available in the print edition, but I’m told it says many good things about the book, including:

What’s clever about the way Matt Forbeck has structured this novel is that the magic-heist stuff is a good enough hook to get you reading, but as it develops beyond that initial hook you don’t have much idea what’s going to come next. It builds on the smart concept intelligently, and the plot is well-constructed and compelling, goading you to keep reading.

Vegas Knights hits UK shelves and e-readers worldwide on March 3, three weeks from today. Print copies arrive in the US on March 29.

Vegas Knights

Over the weekend, Matthew Caine Gill posted a glowing, five-star review of Vegas Knights over at Living Social. (Cunning as he is, he received an advanced reader copy, courtesy of the Robot Army.) About the book, he writes:

Matt Forbeck delivers an electrifying roller coaster ride, filled with Magic, Poker, and so much more… This book was just a blast to read, I can’t even begin to do it justice… So if you see it on a shelf soon, buy it.

Vegas Knights hits stores in the UK and e-readers worldwide on March 3. Print copies arrive in the US on March 29.

Vegas Knights

This morning, my mechanical overlords at Angry Robot released a free sample of my next upcoming novel, Vegas Knights. It encompasses the first five chapters of the book, and you can read it right here. If you enjoy it, be sure to tell all your friends and neighbors — and if you feel like you should do something good for yourself today, go ahead and pre-order it. You deserve it.

Vegas Knights

Over at Bookgasm, Alan Cranis reviews Vegas Knights. While he doesn’t like it as much as the last reviewer, he still has a number of excellent things to say about it.

Forbeck has a fine ear for dialogue and is generally convincing in his characterizations. His portrayal of the glitz and excess of Vegas is equally strong, even when portraying fictional casinos and resorts… [T]he action sequences are imaginative and expertly presented.

Hopefully you’ll agree and wind up liking the book even more.

Vegas Knights

Last week Angry Robot sent out a number of advanced reader copies (ARCs) of Vegas Knights to reviewers. Over at Good Reads, Tony Lane wins the derby for being the first such reviewer to post his opinion on the book. Tony gives the book five stars and writes:

I recently read and enjoyed Amortals but was surprised to find this book arguably better. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes modern fast paced fiction… At times the story flies by at the pace of a CSI recap scene, and it is not easy to put this book down… I have no doubt that I’ll be reading this book again, which is the best thing I can ever say about a book.

This weekend, I posted a details page for Vegas Knights. The book appears on shelves in the UK and becomes available for ebook readers worldwide on March 3. The print edition hits North America on March 29.

Vegas Knights

My fine publishers at Angry Robot sent me the final cover to Vegas Knights today, which you can see right here. It looks much like the preview covers sent out earlier with just a few tiny tweaks.

Many publishers don’t give the author much of a chance to give feedback about the cover at all, but Angry Robot has been excellent about this. We went through a number of rounds of concepts before settling on this one and then letting the cover designers over at Spring London go nuts with it. I love it.

The book is due out in March in the UK and April in the US. Can’t wait for you to read it!

Amortals

I had a wonderful time at the World Fantasy Convention (WFC) this weekend. It’s a traveling show, roaming from city to city each year, and this time it landed in Columbus, Ohio. I went to the University of Michigan, so I’m likely to be biased against Columbus, as it’s the home of our rivals at Ohio State. However, I’ve been there many times for the Origins Game Fair and loved it.

Vegas Knights

Amazon.com has a draft version of the cover for Vegas Knightsup on its site. It’s not the final copy, but I thought you might like to see it. I’m still giving my friends at Angry Robot feedback on it, so if you have any comments of your own, let me know.

Seeing the cover means the book’s one step closer to being real, which is a complete thrill for me. Now I just have to finish those revisions so we have some words to put between the covers.
