Gen Con was flat-out amazing. I’ve been to the show 23 years in a row now (I started young), and I can’t imagine my summers without it. For me, this is like summer camp wrapped up with Christmas in August, except you get to pick out (and buy) your own gifts.

Issue #2 of Games Quarterly Magazine ships out today and should be in stores soon. You can also visit the website to download the content of the magazine for free. I wrote an article called “Spiele Uber Alles.” It’s about the two top gaming awards given out in Germany. Did you know that the game that wins the Spiel des Jahres usually sells 100 times as much as it did before? If you’re a fan of quality board games, read the article to learn more.
I see that the Games Quarterly Magazine website has gone live at www.gamesquarterly.net. Better yet, almost all of the entire first issue is available for download there for free. That includes my article on Fluxx. Stop by soon for lots of great, free reading.
While wandering through my local comic store yesterday (AK Comics, here in Beloit, Wisconsin), I noticed that Games Quarterly Magazine has hit the stands. If you’re interested in games, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy. My article in there is probably the least of the many good reasons.
I just finished my first article for Games Quarterly Magazine, the consumer partner to the indispensible Games Quarterly Catalog, published by Matthews-Simmons Marketing. You can read the press release here. It doesn’t mention me by name, as I hadn’t signed on when the magazine was announced. However, it does mention my good friends Marcelo Figueroa, Ken Hite, Peter Adkison, and John Kovalic. It’s one heck of an all-star team of contributors, and I’m looking forward to seeing the first issue soon.
