I love getting out of the house and meeting fans and friends, and I had a wonderful time doing just that this year. I am done for 2017, but 2018 is already rearing up its head to demand attention. If you wind up at any of them, be sure to say stop and say hi.
It’s the tenth anniversary of the death of Gary Gygax, one of the creators of Dungeons & Dragons and founder of the roleplaying game industry as we know it. It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since he passed, but I’m honored to help his family and friends celebrate his life and accomplishments.
I’ll be there for as much as I can manage, although I have fatherly duties of my own slated for some of the weekend. If you like old-school gaming, including RPGs, minis, and board games, this is a fantastic con for you. Don’t miss it.
I had such a great time as a guest at the UW-Madison Writer’s Institute last year that I decided to come back again. The fact that my son Marty is a student at UW-Madison might have more than a little do to with that decision though!
My main focus will be giving an encore performance of my talk last year, “Writing Fast and Well,” which was a big hit. Join us if you can.
I never — and I mean never — miss Gen Con. It’s the greatest tabletop games show on earth, and this will be my 37th trip to it in a row. Top it off with the fact that I turn 50 on Saturday that year, and it’s sure to be a wild time.
As usual, I plan to take part in both the Industry Insiders and the Writer’s Symposium tracks. Both are excellent and should be even better this year. Join us!
This has become a don’t-miss show for me. I’ll be a guest once again at this fantastic show, held at the Alliant Energy Exhibition Center in Madison. My kids and I had a wonderful time here over the past few years, and I’m sure you will too if you join us.
