The Angell Box

My friend Rich Dakan points me to what may be the coolest H. P. Lovecraft item ever: the Angell Box. It’s a box of printed props straight out of Lovecraft’s “The Call of Cthulhu,” lovingly reproduced from the story’s text. It’s far from cheap, but it comes with a resounding recommendation from Greg Stafford that says it all.

  1. I’d like to own this prop, the Cultist prop from Louisiana, as well. That’s a nice piece!
If you haven’t seen this film from the HP Lovecraft Historical Society, you must! Created with Mythoscope, the film is a modern Silent film meant to emulate the cinema of the day in which Lovecraft penned his seminal work. The locations even include Providence, with the spotlight on the Fleur-de-Lys building, just down from the Providence Art Club. I grew up in Providence and I was thrilled to see the Renaissance City in the film. This film is a gem and I have even screened it for my students after completing reading the short story. Marvelous. Wonderful soundtrack, as well.

On a side note, Paizo is offering the Great Cthulhu Horrorclix figure, previously available only at the large gaming conventions. I have one, but the wings broke off when it fell over (flaw in design). Difficult to repair. I may need a replacement …
