Back to Origins

I haven’t been to Origins (the second-largest adventure games convention in the USA, after Gen Con) for a while. Two years ago, I had a deadline for a Blood Bowl novel that I couldn’t get around. Last year, I had to choose between Origins and Comic-Con International. I hadn’t been to Comic-Con for a number of years, so San Diego won out.

This year, I’m going back to Columbus.

The kind folks at GAMA asked me to serve as Origins’ Gaming Guest of Honor this year, and I happily accepted the honor. Honestly, I’m flattered silly. So, you can look for me in Columbus, Ohio, from July 5–8, 2007. I hope to see you there!

  2. Trust me, when it was discovered that you had not been asked as a GOH yet, there was shock and dismay. “We always assumed he’d been one before…”

Just a chance to make it right, man. Right crew, right time.

    Thanks for saying yes.

  4. That’s funny! I get the same thing about the Origins Awards Hall of Fame. Many people just assume I’m in it. I’ve been nominated a few times, but never made the cut.

Others tell me they’d thought I’d been writing novels for years and years, although my first mass-market novel came out in 2004. It’s odd how perception and reality don’t always mesh, even among friends.

    And thanks for asking!

  6. Congrats on that honor. I always think of Origins as my “home” con, and last year was the first time in years I didn’t make it…now I have another reason to make sure and get there this year.
